EQUESTRIAN

The show jumping phase, which is no longer included after the 2024 Paris Olympics, featured a course set at heights between 1.0 and 1.20 meters. It used a catch-riding format in which horses were randomly drawn, but riders were still given time to warm up and could jump a few practice fences beforehand. The format is similar to what is seen in NCAA or IHSA riding competitions in the United States. As a lifelong equestrian, this aspect is what initially drew me to modern pentathlon.
